HOW DOES BOTOX® WORK?

The wrinkles on the upper third of your face may be caused by muscle contractions that pinch the skin. As you age, your skin is not able to bounce back into place each time you contract these muscles. Botox® contains botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes the muscles. By injecting Botox® into specific muscles of the upper face, the toxin affects the muscles that cause the lines and wrinkles. Once the muscles can no longer be contracted, the skin has a chance to relax, and you may see a softening of the lines and wrinkles.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM BOTOX®

Botox® is an injectable cosmetic treatment. Dr. Horton uses a fine-gauge needle to make several injections along the muscles. The neurotoxin in Botox® may take five to seven days to have the full effect on the muscles.

HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY AFTER A BOTOX® TREATMENT?

Botox® treatments do not require a recovery period. Your results may last four to six months, and Dr. Horton may recommend a follow-up maintenance treatment four months after your first treatment with Botox®.

Botox® is not covered by medical insurance. We accept payment by cash, checks and major credit cards. You may qualify for financing through CareCredit® and LendingUSA.
